The future has caught up to the Carousel of Progress!
This week, Dawn and I are talking about one of our all-time favorite Disney attractions as it prepares for its biggest update in decades.
With the attraction set to close for a major refurbishment, we wanted to share our honest thoughts before it goes offline. We discuss everything Disney has announced so far, the many questions that still haven’t been answered, and what we’re hoping to see when the attraction returns in 2027.
Will the Sherman Brothers’ classic music remain? Could there be a new narrator? Will Disney update the animatronics, the seating, or even the ride system itself? And as two proud children of the ‘80s, we’re especially hoping Disney gets that decade just right!
Along the way, we take a nostalgic trip through the history of Carousel of Progress, share some of our favorite memories, and talk about why we believe this refurbishment isn’t just about updating an attraction—it’s about creating nostalgia for a whole new generation of Disney fans.
In this episode, we discuss:
- The history of Carousel of Progress
- What Disney has announced about the refurbishment
- Our biggest unanswered questions
- The new decades and scenes coming to the attraction
- Why the 1980s scene means so much to us
- What we’re excited to see—and what we hope Disney doesn’t change
Now we’d love to hear from you!
What are you hoping to see in the new Carousel of Progress? What would make you excited—or leave you disappointed? Join the conversation in the comments, at ResortLoop.com, or in our Looper Nation Live Facebook community.

Speaker AMan Tengan se alijado de las cuertas.
Speaker AAs we ride through the Grand Canyon concourse, you can see one of the largest ceramic murals ever created.
Speaker AIt's nine stories high and it's made up of 18,000 hand painted tiles.
Speaker AElevators running through the center will carry you high above to the Top of the World restaurant where famous stars entertain.
Speaker BHey everybody, thanks for joining us.
Speaker CI'm Tim Scott, joined by his lovely wife Dawn.
Speaker BThis is the gateway to the Magic Resort.
Speaker BLoop.com.
Speaker BI flipped that around there just for make things a little different.
Speaker COkie doke.
Speaker BToday we're going to talk about A lot of people say this is their favorite attraction.
Speaker CDefinitely our son's favorite attraction.
Speaker BWhy?
Speaker BI don't know.
Speaker BWe, we do love the attraction.
Speaker BYou don't know this, but by on purpose, I got you your beverage for the show in the Carousel Progress cup.
Speaker COh, you did?
Speaker BHow about that?
Speaker CI love that.
Speaker BSo we're talking Carousel Progress, the update that's coming up and it's, it's going to go offline pretty soon.
Speaker CVery, very soon.
Speaker BSo I thought we'd talk briefly about the history, about some questions I had.
Speaker BThen we'll go into the article provided by our friends at Disney and see if they answer any of these questions.
Speaker BWill they answer the questions?
Speaker BWe will find out.
Speaker CAnd will our son return from his theme park depression?
Speaker BThat's right.
Speaker BBecause he's actually going this summer.
Speaker BBut he's going after its clothes.
Speaker CHe is, he's, he's a little devastated.
Speaker BHe did talk about doing a one day trip down to do it, which we wouldn't put it past him to do.
Speaker CNope.
Speaker CI don't put anything past that boy.
Speaker BNo.
Speaker BBut we'll see what happens because it's coming up quick as we record this show.
Speaker CIt is.
Speaker BOh, by the way, before we get started, too far into this.
Speaker BI don't know about you.
Speaker BI've tried to.
Speaker BOther than this Disney press release about it.
Speaker BI've avoided all blogs, podcasts and other people's thoughts and ideas on this on purpose.
Speaker CI haven't read anything.
Speaker CIt's just been devastating.
Speaker CSo I'm just sad.
Speaker CSo I don't want to know about it.
Speaker CI'm just going to pretend it's not happening.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker BSo this is going to be kind of our raw thoughts on this before we've maybe been influenced by maybe what other people are saying.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker BSo we're going to go into that.
Speaker BBut here's.
Speaker BI made a list of questions as soon as I heard this news that I was very curious about.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker BSo I'm going to go this.
Speaker BYou can tell me what you think about these, or just let me read the list, whatever you're into.
Speaker CAll right.
Speaker BFirst one was the narrator.
Speaker BThere's been rumors for, like, years that Tom Hanks would be a good replacement narrator.
Speaker CHe would be.
Speaker BHowever, AI's here now, and we could still have Jean Shepard from A Christmas Story.
Speaker BThere's the narration for it.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker BSo they could recreate his voice if they.
Speaker BProbably.
Speaker BThey would have to get the family's blessing for something like that.
Speaker BMaybe they wouldn't.
Speaker BI don't know.
Speaker BBut that's a thought.
Speaker BSo we'll see.
Speaker BThat was my first question, was who's going to narrate the new Carousel of Progress?
Speaker COh, I would really love Tom Hanks.
Speaker BYou think?
Speaker CHe's, like, one of my most favorite actors.
Speaker CI love his voice.
Speaker BSecond, the music.
Speaker BIt's a great big beautiful tomorrow, which is on your cup there.
Speaker CYes, it is.
Speaker CWith the little gears and everything.
Speaker BBut my favorite kind of the unofficial theme to the show.
Speaker BNow is the time.
Speaker BNow is the best time.
Speaker BCould that make a comeback in the Carousel Progress?
Speaker BOh, right.
Speaker CCould they intermix the two?
Speaker BRight.
Speaker CI don't know.
Speaker BWe're already off the rails here.
Speaker CI'm not the one leading the show.
Speaker BI know.
Speaker BBut I'm gonna say that you'll find this very humorous.
Speaker BMacKenzie was talking to her fiance about the sh.
Speaker BThis.
Speaker BNot.
Speaker BNot about this.
Speaker BThey were actually watching Mary Poppins, and Zach said to her, you know what this music reminds me of?
Speaker BThe Carousel Progress.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BAnd she said, well, fun fact.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BSo I thought that was hilarious that he.
Speaker BHe's putting these themes together.
Speaker BAll right.
Speaker CSo she's like, you doing that.
Speaker CNone of that stuff ever occurs to me.
Speaker CI very, very seldom look at a show.
Speaker CWe're watching a movie, we're watching and see some person, random in the background going, oh, well, that person was on the episode of.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker CSo it's like.
Speaker COr, you know, their name.
Speaker BI don't know any of that.
Speaker BI don't know.
Speaker BI can't remember what we had for lunch today, but I can remember these kind of things.
Speaker CSo I think we've had lunch.
Speaker CI'm getting hungry.
Speaker BYeah, we'll worry about that after the show.
Speaker BLet's keep moving forward.
Speaker BWill there be brand new animatronics for all the family members in the show?
Speaker CI would think so.
Speaker BI would think so, too.
Speaker BWe'll have to see if it's answered.
Speaker CI'll Bet you the technology for animatronics is so much more advanced.
Speaker BOh, totally.
Speaker CWhen this first started.
Speaker CAnd probably I would say animatronics that are that old are starting to become maybe a maintenance issue.
Speaker BRight?
Speaker CI'll bet there's going to be.
Speaker CBut I don't know.
Speaker BWe don't know.
Speaker BWe're going to get into this article, see if they even answer these questions.
Speaker CI don't know.
Speaker BWill they change or update the entire carousel of progress mechanics or the mechanism under the turns, everything?
Speaker BBecause it kind of feels kind of rough sometimes when you get turning in there.
Speaker CYeah, it does a little bit.
Speaker BIf you're ever going to do it, this is the time to do it.
Speaker CAbsolutely the time to do it.
Speaker BNow is the time.
Speaker BNow is the best time to take care of that.
Speaker BIf it's a problem.
Speaker BI don't know if it's a problem or not.
Speaker BBut if they're going to do it, this is the time to do it.
Speaker CAbsolutely.
Speaker BWill they change the seating?
Speaker BAre all the chairs or seating.
Speaker BThey're going to be the same.
Speaker BAre they going to make it more comfortable?
Speaker BAre they going to make them smaller?
Speaker BThey're going to make them bigger.
Speaker CDid they recently, like reupholster some of the seats?
Speaker COkay.
Speaker BBut when I look at this chair, they seem like they're kind of oldish.
Speaker CThey're very old.
Speaker CAnd some of them don't even have a seat cushion on them.
Speaker CLike when you walk in, there's some of them that the seat part has been removed because probably that broke or.
Speaker BAnd some of the seats are kind of wobbly.
Speaker CThey're very.
Speaker CI would hope they're going to replace the seat.
Speaker BWe'll see if that's being answered.
Speaker BWill the Walt Animatronic they're talking about putting in be identical to the one in Disneyland or will it be different?
Speaker CI don't know.
Speaker BBecause for that.
Speaker BNo new Walt Disney show over there, they have a Walt Disney animatronic.
Speaker BInteresting.
Speaker CProbably money saving cost.
Speaker CThey could do duplicate that rather than come up with a whole new one.
Speaker BThey could.
Speaker CWho knows?
Speaker BWill there be brand new Carousel Progress merchandise, official merchandise for Carousel Progress somewhere available in the park?
Speaker CThere's not a whole lot of Carousel of Progress merchandise at all.
Speaker BThe cup we're talking about that I got you is not an official Disney.
Speaker CIt is not.
Speaker CI got it off of Etsy.
Speaker BEtsy.
Speaker BBut it's great.
Speaker CI love it.
Speaker BIt's.
Speaker CIt's cute.
Speaker BYou've had comments on it and people try to steal it.
Speaker CThey do.
Speaker CMacKenzie tries to steal it.
Speaker CSo does my sister.
Speaker BSo let's just delve briefly into the history.
Speaker BMany people already know this, that the Carousel of Progress actually debuted at the 1964 World's Fair in New York City.
Speaker CCorrect.
Speaker BThen I believe it went to Disneyland for a little bit and then it showed up at Disney World.
Speaker BSo it's been around for a while.
Speaker CI don't think that I knew that.
Speaker CI don't think I knew that there was not a Carousel of Progress at Disneyland.
Speaker CI just assumed it was a duplicate.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker CInteresting.
Speaker CHow did I not know that?
Speaker CProbably because we've never been to Disneyland and we need to go.
Speaker BThat's true.
Speaker BAnd if we're wrong, somebody's going to let us know.
Speaker CI hope so.
Speaker BAnd the score, the original score.
Speaker BThe Sherman Brothers.
Speaker BThe updated score.
Speaker BStill the Sherman Brothers.
Speaker BWe love the Sherman Brothers.
Speaker CWe do.
Speaker CThey're pretty amazing.
Speaker CThey're.
Speaker CThe amount of music that they have produced and, you know, music that everybody has heard is incredible.
Speaker BYes.
Speaker BSo an article we're we're looking at here says came to Disneyland, where It opened in 1967.
Speaker BIt had several updates, including a refreshed final scene now set in progress City, A community of tomorrow based on Walt's vision for Epcot, which we all know about.
Speaker BAnd then it made its way to Walt Disney World in 1975.
Speaker CAlrighty.
Speaker BIn his time at the Magic Kingdom, the attraction has continued to evolve with new scripts, voice actors, time periods, and even full scene updates.
Speaker BLet's.
Speaker BWhy are we even mentioning that the last scene update was done in 1980.
Speaker BSomething.
Speaker B1990.
Speaker BOh, 1994.
Speaker BWhich.
Speaker BThat doesn't really sound a lot that old to us.
Speaker CI know.
Speaker CBut.
Speaker BOh, my son wasn't born then.
Speaker ANo.
Speaker CAnd he just turned 30 this year.
Speaker BSo I don't know why we're talking about these updates that it's had.
Speaker CBecause of that we were only married a year at that point in time, and we're going on 33 years.
Speaker CHoly moly.
Speaker BOh, it's crazy.
Speaker COh, my goodness.
Speaker BIt featured a new theme song then the best time of your life, which was.
Speaker BWhich is my favorite one.
Speaker BWhich stood in for the great big beautiful tomorrow.
Speaker BUntil they decided to go back to the great big beautiful tomorrow.
Speaker CBecause that's what people love.
Speaker CThey better not change that.
Speaker CI'm just gonna.
Speaker BI'd be fine either way.
Speaker BBut we'll have to see.
Speaker BI would love to see, like, at least an Easter egg back to the best time of year.
Speaker COh, Disney is so great about that.
Speaker CI'll bet you there's Going to be several Easter eggs in the new one, I'll betcha.
Speaker BHave you ever heard, or maybe you didn't notice, that actually plays in the Tomorrowland background loop?
Speaker CWell, I don't remember the best time of your life being in the carousel of progress.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker CI don't have any memory of that.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker CSo that's the only place I know it from, is the background music.
Speaker BI remember because my parents took us there when this changed.
Speaker BAnd we generally went like, once a year.
Speaker BAt least once a year, most of the time.
Speaker BAnd the first time I sat down and the thing came on, there was great, big, beautiful tomorrow's plan.
Speaker BI'm looking around like, what's going on?
Speaker BAnd no one else seems to care.
Speaker BI'm like, I won't say what I was thinking, but it was basically, what the heck is going on?
Speaker BWhat's happening?
Speaker BWhy isn't anybody else reason or ruckus about this thing?
Speaker CThat's because it probably only occurred to you, oh, maybe.
Speaker BAnd maybe.
Speaker BAnyway.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker CI'm just not sure.
Speaker CLet's talk about the new decades that are coming, which are just a little bit scary to me.
Speaker BThey're scary.
Speaker BAnd they cut too close to home.
Speaker CThey cut way too close to home.
Speaker BAll right, tell us what you have about the first decade that's going to be featured.
Speaker CFirst decade is going to be the 1960s, of which you and I were born in.
Speaker BOh, my goodness.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BBut it's actually summer of 1969.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker CSo you and I would be one.
Speaker BOne year old.
Speaker COne year old.
Speaker COh, my goodness.
Speaker CYou know, they're going to talk about, like, the historic moon landing.
Speaker CAnd, you know, you just kind of wonder, are the kids going to be dressed like as hippies and what are they going to do for that?
Speaker CI don't know.
Speaker CI think it'll be exciting.
Speaker BIf Tom Hanks narrates this.
Speaker BHe was Also on Apollo 13, I think was on the real moon mission, not just the movie.
Speaker BSo that would bring.
Speaker BThat would bring some credibility to everything.
Speaker CThere you go.
Speaker BOh, my goodness.
Speaker BSo I thought that was crazy.
Speaker CThat's very crazy.
Speaker COh, wow.
Speaker CUnbelievable.
Speaker BSo we'll have to see what kind of Easter eggs are in there at 2.
Speaker CThey better not mess this up, because we are 80s people through and through.
Speaker CGraduated high school in the 80s, went to college in the 80s.
Speaker CIt was.
Speaker CThere was ever the greatest decade ever.
Speaker CIt was the 1980s.
Speaker CThe music, the everything.
Speaker CThey better not mess this up.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker CSo that's the only decade I'm going to be like, better not mess it Up.
Speaker BI'll just say, pick your favorite 1980s top 40 song for the most part.
Speaker BNone of it triggered road rage.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker BYou know, it's hard to have Rosie rage when you're listening to, like, Duran Duran or aha or anything like that.
Speaker BAnyway.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BLet's see.
Speaker BSo we pick up on the family night.
Speaker BOh, they're doing this kind of in seasons also, by the way.
Speaker CThe same way they do it now.
Speaker BThe same way they do now.
Speaker BWhich I think Harry Potter stole, by the way, because they do.
Speaker BThey're going for Harry Potter movies.
Speaker COh, yeah.
Speaker BSeasons also.
Speaker CYes, they do.
Speaker BSo they're claiming this back with the new carousel progress thing.
Speaker CIt says John's gonna be on the porch handing out candy.
Speaker CThe trick or treaters.
Speaker CAnd it says poor uncle Orville will still be in the bathroom with no privacy around here.
Speaker CI would love that.
Speaker BHe better.
Speaker BWell, this is gonna be on here.
Speaker BSo I guess Uncle Orville's still doing his thing.
Speaker CAll right, Uncle Orville.
Speaker BSarah's taking center stage.
Speaker BSo that's kind of cool.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CI wonder if they're gonna debut.
Speaker CLike, this is the microwave and a lot of the new appliances that came out.
Speaker CI mean, I'm not sure when the food processor.
Speaker CProcessor came out or the kitchenaid mixer, but I'm sort of guessing maybe around then.
Speaker BWill the kitchen be.
Speaker BThat was it?
Speaker BNo.
Speaker BThe 60s.
Speaker BWas the avocado green.
Speaker COh, definitely.
Speaker BWhat was the.
Speaker BWere they gold appliances then?
Speaker BMaybe.
Speaker BI'm trying to picture things.
Speaker COh, this.
Speaker BBlack appliances.
Speaker CI'm not sure.
Speaker CI mean, we still had a gold refrigerator in the 80s, but that's because back then, you didn't get rid of something because you didn't like the color.
Speaker CYou got rid of it when it stopped working.
Speaker CAnd it can no longer be repaired.
Speaker BWell, that's.
Speaker BAnd you can.
Speaker CSo I know we had a gold refrigerator when I was growing up.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker BAnd you could repair things then, though, to also.
Speaker BYou could change out parts now if a server board goes down or something.
Speaker BYou got to get done.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BI would love for this 1980s, because I was actually doing date comparisons.
Speaker BI'd love for them to reference the new best beverage in the world.
Speaker BNew Coke.
Speaker COh, yeah.
Speaker CNew Coke.
Speaker CAnd.
Speaker COh, my gosh.
Speaker CPepsi.
Speaker CCrystal or crystal Pepsi.
Speaker BYes.
Speaker COh, goodness.
Speaker CThere is a.
Speaker CThere's a lot they could do with that.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker CFudge sickles.
Speaker CThe jello pop.
Speaker CFudge sickles.
Speaker CJell O Pop.
Speaker COh, so good.
Speaker BAnd it's 1985.
Speaker BIt's not 1986.
Speaker BSo you have to worry about any kind of NASA disasters or anything good planning those at all.
Speaker BThat might be a reason they went with 1985.
Speaker CI would totally agree with that.
Speaker CSo I want a happy time.
Speaker CI don't want any sad events when I'm at dinner.
Speaker BOh, absolutely, absolutely.
Speaker BWhich I'm sure that's probably why.
Speaker BBecause they did in 1986.
Speaker BThen people would be like, why didn't you have the audience.
Speaker CAbsolutely.
Speaker CGood plan.
Speaker BAll right, let's jump ahead to Act 3, which still makes me feel old.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker COur daughter still wasn't even born in the new millennium.
Speaker CStephen was three.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker CI think that is cool that they're gonna do that, though.
Speaker CLike the countdown to 2000.
Speaker BOh, yeah.
Speaker CAnd the new thing called the Internet, you know, that's kind of cool.
Speaker CSo that's a pretty exciting thing.
Speaker CI think that could be a really, really good scene.
Speaker BWe'll find out if the carousel progress is Y2K compatible.
Speaker CThere you go.
Speaker BMaybe the show just breaks down, that scene every time.
Speaker BEvery time it turns.
Speaker CWe'll see Y2K.
Speaker CMan, that was such a thing.
Speaker BOh, it was.
Speaker CAnd I was flipped out because you had to work.
Speaker CYou were working afternoons then and you weren't going to be home till after midnight.
Speaker BI had to work late in case there was a Y2K disaster.
Speaker CAbsolutely.
Speaker CYou weren't.
Speaker CYou were told, don't plan on going home.
Speaker CBe prepared to stay.
Speaker BWe had extra engineers on call just in case.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker CAnd I'm home with a three and a half year old going, should I fill the bathtub with water in case we don't have water?
Speaker CClean drinking water.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker BYou know what happened?
Speaker BNothing.
Speaker BNothing.
Speaker CNot one thing.
Speaker CThere was probably something happening out there in the world that they were just covering up.
Speaker CThey didn't want us to know, so they made up this whole Y2K thing.
Speaker BIf it's a countdown till midnight and everyone's panicking and the carousel progress goes, well, we're fine.
Speaker BThat would be a great big beautiful tomorrow.
Speaker BJust pops right up again soon.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker BAll right, let's go on to act four, the possible future.
Speaker CThe only thing I'm going to say about this is I don't want it to be similar to Spaceship Earth at the very end where you can pick, like, your future.
Speaker CI don't want it to be any of those crazy little scenes.
Speaker BOh, yeah.
Speaker CThe flying cars and all that stuff.
Speaker CNo, I. I don't know what I want it to be, but I know I don't want it to be too similar to Spaceship Earth.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker BNot too crazy.
Speaker BNo.
Speaker BYou know that kind of thing.
Speaker CNo, but anyway, I'm sure there'll be, I don't know, maybe household robots or something.
Speaker CI don't know.
Speaker BWell, that's a.
Speaker BThat's like a lot of Horizon stuff.
Speaker CThey were.
Speaker BNow we're talking about.
Speaker BI know which Horizons was kind of a mini sequel to Carousel Progress, if anybody remembers that had kind of the same kind of family in the side.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BThe guy with the same kind of hair says, we reach the end of the show.
Speaker BWe see the family one last time in the distant future in an out of this world home from a helping robot assistant.
Speaker AOh, yeah.
Speaker BEveryday tasks to space travel.
Speaker BThe scene imagines a future where the extraordinary innovation has become part of life.
Speaker BImproves that a beautiful tomorrow is just a dream away.
Speaker BA dream away.
Speaker CThere you go.
Speaker BAnd let's see.
Speaker BTo help now they talk about the concept sketches down there, which is just like other posters.
Speaker BBut they look really cute.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker CThey do look reminiscent of the spaceship Earth, though, at the ending.
Speaker BYes, yes.
Speaker BNot sure about that.
Speaker ABut.
Speaker BSo we'll see.
Speaker CWe'll see.
Speaker CWell, none of your questions were answered.
Speaker BNone of the questions were actually answered in this.
Speaker BBut you know, you know what Disney does with all their information.
Speaker BThey love to trickle things out.
Speaker CThey do.
Speaker BSo I'm sure, like, eventually they'll answer one of these questions in a press release.
Speaker BEverybody will get excited or everybody will lose their minds.
Speaker CYeah, yeah, they.
Speaker CThey.
Speaker CThat's what they'll do.
Speaker CSo.
Speaker BSo the carousel progress has become, they say, becoming temporarily unavailable beginning July 6th.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker B2026, For those of you listening in the future.
Speaker BAnd we expect the attraction to reopen in 2027.
Speaker BBut we really don't know.
Speaker CNo, you never know.
Speaker BMaybe it's one of those things, like once you get into the mechanism underneath it, like, oh, yeah, we gotta totally redo this.
Speaker BMaybe they'll make it levitate instead of actually roll.
Speaker BThat doesn't cost a lot of energy or anything.
Speaker CI guess we'll find out.
Speaker CIt could be.
Speaker BBut will the new music, will there be any, like, bonus lines or bonus verses that maybe they wrote before that they didn't release?
Speaker BKind of like It's a Small World.
Speaker COr maybe they'll just add to it.
Speaker BWho could add to.
Speaker BI've Got It Lynn.
Speaker BManuel Miranda would add verses to it.
Speaker BAnd we could have Uncle Orville rapping in the middle of a great big beautiful tomorrow with that cadence that Lin Manuel Miranda likes.
Speaker BLike encanto.
Speaker AYes.
Speaker COh, my goodness.
Speaker CToo funny.
Speaker CToo funny.
Speaker BDon't get me wrong, he's very talented.
Speaker BHe really.
Speaker BYou can pick out what he's doing, though.
Speaker BHe just kind of writes kind of with the same cadence and rapping style and.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker BPick him out really quickly.
Speaker BNothing's not good.
Speaker BFantastic, right?
Speaker CI don't know.
Speaker BI don't know.
Speaker BAnyway, did we answer the question?
Speaker BDid Disney answer the questions?
Speaker BWhat are you hoping for in a new Carousel of Progress redo?
Speaker BWhat would either totally disappoint you?
Speaker BWe kind of talked, touched on this earlier, but what would either totally disappoint you or totally get you excited?
Speaker CThat would be good.
Speaker CThat's a good listener question.
Speaker BIt is a good look.
Speaker BWe're gonna put it out to the listeners.
Speaker BI just want to know if you have anything.
Speaker CI think I would be totally disappointed if, like I said, if they messed up the 80s, I think I would be disappointed because we grew up in the 80s.
Speaker CWe know what the 80s was like.
Speaker CAnd Carousel of Progress, the family in there is just your middle class American family.
Speaker CYou know, they're not your super rich family that has everything.
Speaker CThey're just your basic workingclass family.
Speaker CAnd I hope they stick with that same theme because in the 80s, if you were just a middle of the road, working class family, you had a really good life.
Speaker CAnd I hope they keep true with that theme going through.
Speaker CWhat would really get me excited?
Speaker CI don't know.
Speaker CI think I would be disappointed if they did some iconic, but not everybody wore type outfits from the 80s.
Speaker CLike if they did like the Madonna look or if they did like the.
Speaker COh, like that.
Speaker CWhat was that space age material fabric that a lot of people wore?
Speaker BOh, like Mylar was like Mylar.
Speaker CThat's it.
Speaker CYeah, something similar to that.
Speaker CI think parachute pants would be a great outfit.
Speaker BOh yeah.
Speaker CI think flipped up collars would be great outfits because I think the daughter in the last scene has a flipped up collar.
Speaker CIn the future.
Speaker CI think they need to bring that back to the 80s.
Speaker CI think that would be cool.
Speaker CYou know, girls wore flipped up collars and then a sweater overneath, you know, with jeans and some.
Speaker CYou pegged your pants.
Speaker BPegged your doordash jeans.
Speaker CDoordash jeans.
Speaker COh, yeah.
Speaker CSo I, I just really want to see some of those.
Speaker CI think that would really make my experience if they had good 80s outfits.
Speaker BRight, right.
Speaker BSo I agree.
Speaker BThe same thing.
Speaker BI was always, I was thinking about the 80s, the 90s, everything now in the carousel progress.
Speaker BAnd I've got a little tagline here I'm going to use for this whole episode that's I think it's fantastic.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker BThe 1900s of 1920s and 1940s scenes are gone because I think all the people that were talking to their, like, grandkids or kids while they're in the ride, I don't want to say they're not with us anymore, but they're mostly not with us anymore, so.
Speaker BThat's.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker BThat's really old history.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker BIt doesn't really.
Speaker BI won't say it doesn't affect because it does affect, but it doesn't interest.
Speaker BMaybe that could be the current generations that are going to the carousel progress.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker BSo this version of the carousel progress will probably be around for what we obviously 30 years at least.
Speaker CAt least.
Speaker BTrack record.
Speaker BSo what they're doing is here comes creating nostalgia for new generations.
Speaker CThat's a good one.
Speaker BThank you.
Speaker BI thought that was pretty good myself.
Speaker CThat was good.
Speaker BThat was one of my driving epiphanies.
Speaker CI like that.
Speaker CThat's very good.
Speaker BSo will there be boom boxes playing 1980s music and that kind of thing?
Speaker CThey need to have that in there.
Speaker CThat would be great.
Speaker BDisney, if you need any help with anything from the 80s, call you again.
Speaker BI don't remember happen what happened in 2025 and 2026 necessarily.
Speaker BYou want to talk about 1980 through 1989, we got it nailed.
Speaker BI'm your guy.
Speaker CYou really are.
Speaker CYou truly, truly are.
Speaker BSo I want to put this out there.
Speaker BSo if you have anything you want to see in the new carousel of Progress, anything you don't want to see in the carousel parks, maybe they need to bring in brand new characters.
Speaker BMaybe the dogs will all be like, what's the big hot dog now?
Speaker BGolden doodles.
Speaker BOh, yeah, baby Doodles.
Speaker BI don't even know.
Speaker BPool doodles.
Speaker CBurner doodles.
Speaker BBernie Doodles.
Speaker BI don't know.
Speaker BGet extreme of consciousness going here and just let this go for like, two hours.
Speaker BWe just mentioned things that are going on.
Speaker CThat's crazy.
Speaker BI'm sure some of you are out there driving right now going, I don't know why he's not mentioning this.
Speaker BI don't know why he's not mentioning that.
Speaker CBring it on.
Speaker CWe want to know.
Speaker BI'm actually looking forward to the new carousel progress.
Speaker CI. I was disappointed when I heard they were gonna do a refurb on it and everything.
Speaker BOh, yeah.
Speaker BInternet lost their mind as they.
Speaker CI. I lost my mind with it.
Speaker CBut I didn't say you did now that.
Speaker CWell, I did a little bit.
Speaker BOur son still love that.
Speaker COh, he's.
Speaker CHe's not going to rec.
Speaker CBut honestly, I Think it's going to be a good thing.
Speaker CAnd I'm getting fairly excited about it.
Speaker BI am, too.
Speaker CSo.
Speaker BSo if anybody's getting down there for, like, the last couple days, good luck.
Speaker BI hope you get to see the final shows of the Carousel Progress.
Speaker BI'm sure many people are going to be recording it.
Speaker BAnd here's another thing.
Speaker BWhen I talk about recording it, if anybody really misses the old one, I'm guarantee there's thousands of versions on YouTube.
Speaker CYes.
Speaker BThere's going to be no shortages of.
Speaker CNo, you'll still be able to see it.
Speaker BDo you miss those songs?
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CI can tell Stephen.
Speaker CI said, I'll put him in a chair and spin him around if he needs to between the scenes.
Speaker BAnd I'm glad to see that they're actually investing in the Curacao progress.
Speaker BI mean, it's not going to be going away anytime soon.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CThey're not closing it because often, sometimes when we're there, there's maybe 10 or 12 other people in the theater with us.
Speaker BBecause there was a time there where everybody, I think rightly so, was concerned because I don't know if you remember this, where they're putting the Waltzing now, the beginning sign, where they had to used to be the GE logo back in the day, but it was a Carousel Progress.
Speaker CYes.
Speaker BWhere it said Walt Disney's Carousel Progress.
Speaker BThe apostrophe and Walt Disney's fell off the sign.
Speaker BIt was like that way for a long time.
Speaker BBecause we went back the next year, it still was not there.
Speaker COh, and that bothered you?
Speaker BIt totally bothered me.
Speaker BLike, why is there not an apostrophe there?
Speaker BAnd then I will go back next year and it's still not there.
Speaker BI'm like, did anybody walk up there and see if there's an apostrophe laying on the ground?
Speaker BI know I tried to take bad pictures.
Speaker BI'll see if I can find them.
Speaker BBut, you know, the cameras then weren't that great.
Speaker BI don't remember what the cameras were I tried to grab them with, but any who's.
Speaker BWe could either call it the Tale of the Missing Apostrophe, but we'll probably go with nostalgia for a new generation.
Speaker CI like that.
Speaker CThat's a good one.
Speaker BSo, anyway, I'd love to hear everybody's thoughts.
Speaker BI'm sure you'd like, love to hear everybody's thoughts.
Speaker CI definitely would.
